Business and life will always present challenges, opportunities, change and uncertainty
What makes the difference is not what happens. It's the choices you make as a result
I've always been fascinated by how two people can face the same situation, and respond in very different ways:
- One gets frustrated and angry. Another regroups quickly and focuses only on what they can control
- One sees a problem. Another sees an opportunity
- One feels anxious and overwhelmed. Another feels excited and challenged
- One hesitates and stalls. Another takes action
Over years of coaching business owners and leaders, I've realised it is rarely a lack of knowledge, skill or desire holding people back. More often, it is the thinking habits developed over time. Most serve well. Some become overused, or so automatic that we stop noticing they're shaping the choices we make.
The Bridge of Choice™ grew from that realisation. It is a practical thinking framework designed to help you slow down, think more consciously, and navigate important decisions with greater clarity, calmness and resilience - not just once, but again and again
This isn't about adding more to your plate, or finding the 'perfect' answer. It's simply about responding from a place of conscious choice and greater self-leadership.
Whenever life or business feels uncertain, challenging or important, The Bridge helps you step out of autopilot. Rather than relying on your default habits of thinking, the steps of the 5Ps help you to view the bigger picture, see more possibilities, decide what is important, and then take action:
The 5Ps
1. PAUSE - What's really happening here?
Notice what's happening. Create space to think before reacting. Separate facts from assumptions and emotions.
2. PERSPECTIVE - What attitude am I bringing to this?
Step back and look at the situation differently. Challenge your habitual way of thinking. Explore different viewpoints, and move from reacting to responding
3. POSSIBILITIES - What options do I have here?
Open up your thinking. Explore alternatives, ask better questions and consider opportunities you may not have seen before
4. PRIORITIES - What matters most here?
Reconnect with your values, vision and what is truly important, so your choices align with what matters most
5. PROCEED - What's my best next step?
Move forward with confidence, knowing your next action is thoughtful and intentional
